I was a runner for Transmission ltd, helping with their Kumon shoot in Perth! We travelled up to Edinburgh, filmed in Perth and flew from Glasgow back to London.
What an incredible 3 days. I've had experience being a runner before on bigger shoots, so it was amazing to just have the 4 of us, and having the chance to talk properly about the industry. It was an incredible opportunity to have, and I'm so grateful for them to have contacted me after meeting the producer and director of the company whilst waiting their table at my day job.
It was a full on shoot, with a jam-packed schedule. I revised it before going and on the flight too, I didn't want to make any mistakes, and wanted to make a good impression. I soon realised that it's ok to get things wrong, and it's even better to get things wrong when you have great bosses around. They never shouted, and said I did a brilliant job on our flight home. It's worth making a few mistakes to get the praise you deserve afterwards.
Having only just graduated this Summer, it feels as if I've been doing freelancing/running for a lot longer! It's difficult starting off (as said in my last blog), but once you get started and find the right contacts, then doors do open.
I'm a true believe in "if you don't ask, you don't get", and I want that to resonate with anyone reading this. I landed a fantastic opportunity whilst being a waitress, great things can happen.
